The Tacky Fly Box - Its worth a punt!

UPDATE: This project has reached it funding minimum and will be put into production for a summer delivery date.

I'm always scouring the internet looking for deals, and Kickstarter is one of those places I look.

There have a been a couple of good fly fishing related projects funded there over the last while, and today while I was searching I came across The Tacky Fly Box.

It immediately got my attention. On my last fishing trip, I found myself frustrated that the foam bands 'glued' in to my fly box were coming undone, and with cold hands I was finding it hard to get the flies in to the slots as they moved around, so much so, that I just ended up dumping the flies in the box to deal with in the warmth of home.

So, these folks in Utah have a prototype box which uses a silicone sheet insert rather than closed cell foam, and it looks like a winner to me.

They're trying to raise some funds to get the project off the ground, and I decided to back it, out of a mix of curiosity and general disgruntledness (is that a word) over my experience this past weekend. There is 29 days to go on this project, so plenty of time for them to reach their $7500 funding goal (they're already 9% of the way there).

You can also check out the website here as well as the Kickerstarter fund raising page here.

Just a quick note on Kickstarter. Funds are processed though amazon payments, so you can use your amazon account.
If the project doesn't reach its funding goal, it is not backed.
Funds are not charged to you until the end of the funding period, in this case, mid January 2014

The estimated delivery date for this project is Summer 2014, so don't be expecting a fly box by Christmas.
