A few streamers

Been on a little streamer kick lately, and with not much else going on with me worth blogging about, I thought I'd post them up for your entertainment pleasure

I've been seeing a lot of different 'Ghost' flies around lately, and a quick comment from Don Bastian over on CFTF indicted there might be upward of 30 published patterns with some others unpublished (yellow and Grizzly Gray above, which are both Gray Wolf patterns). The Jungle Ghost is from the book Carrie Stevens: Maker of Rangeley Favorite Trout and Salmon Flies, and was designed by Leslie Hilyard.

There'll be a few more to come out in the coming days.  And I'll post them up when they're done. Planning a fishing trip this weekend to the Upper D. Look out for a report from that early next week

Finally, the June streamers from Streamers365 will be posted on eBay this Sunday. I have a Korinary and Titanic up for auction, so get in on that action and raise some money for some worthwhile causes

Titanic on Streamers365

Bit late to the party on this one - just discovered my Titanic Streamer, tied April 12 to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the great ship, is streamer of the day on streamers365.

My second one this month following from Korinary, featured July 7.

That's two of my streamers up for auction at the end of this month, all for great organizations. So either follow streamers365 blog or on facebook and look out for the auction listings. Great flies by other more qualified tyers than me are also featured.

Red Spot Craw-Bits!

Yesterday, Michael Decoteau of Red Spot Fly posted some images of a new fly that has been slaying bass for him out in Ohio, and asked followers to suggest a name for them. Later he chose 4 entries and asked for votes on the winner - my Craw-bit suggestion came out on top, and for that I receive the prize of a handful of said flies.

I first became aware of Red Spot Fly a few weeks ago via a forum I'm a member of, and I was excited to see some really great quality Rangeley Style Streamers. Michael ties a lot of great flies and you can check them out on the  RSF  Facebook page. I'm told there is a website in the works, but FB will get you all you need to know for now.
Thanks Michael for the flies, looking forward to throwing them at some Philly bass in the coming weeks!

Polarized Sunglasses

It wasn't until I started wearing polarized sunnies that I realized I had been very much behind the 8 ball without them while fishing. While I've worn some cheapos from the tackle stores, frankly, they're crap.

A few flies

I've been on an imposed exile from the vise the last two weeks, and technically I'm still on it due to some work being done at home. Unfortunately my tying station (in the basement) has been blocked in as the basement was designated storage area However, last night I fought my way though and salvaged some materials to tie at the kitchen table.

International Fly Tying Symposium Nov 17-18 2012

So, today in the mail I got a nice surprise (in addition to my Korinary streamer being featured on streamers365) - an invitation to IFTS for 2012. I'll admit I had hoped to be invited after submitting some flies I tied to the organizer, Chuck Furmisky, but I really thought it wouldn't be this year.

Korinary on Streamers365 today

Today my Korinary streamer is fly of the day on streamers365. You can check it out here
